Velocity had been puttering around her habsuite, unable to sleep on her off hours as it was technically early in the day, when her datapad started playing one of her favorite songs which she sometimes used for important alarms.
"Contact Rung about getting stuffed animals on a side trip!" the alarm read.
Frowning in confusion, as Velocity didn't recognize any such name, she started looking the name up in the crew directory. Partway through doing this, it all came flooding back. Slowly at first, then all at once. His name, his kindness, the way they'd met. Velocity gasped, and fumbled at her datapad to pull up his information, contacting him via video call.
"Rung!" She said with breathless excitement, leaning in towards her datapad with a bright smile. "Rung, hi! Its Velocity! Do you remember? You brought me candy and- oh! I met you when you were- yes!" She bounced in and out of frame, setting her wheels to spinning. "My alarm went off to see you about getting toys and things for your patients to cuddle, and it reminded me of, um."
She didn't want to say that she'd forgotten about his existence entirely, so instead she reached out of frame and held up a half completed collage made up of pictures of weighted blankets and candy and unicorns, along with a reasonably well executed (albeit only partially finished) drawing of the both of them hugging. At the top of the collage, rendered in sparkly glitter pen, it read "Acquaintances To Friends To Meaningful Bonds! Thank Y-"
She leaned around the collage with a grin. "Do you like it?"
"Oh Velocity, how could I ever forget you. You're such a bright little spark here.OH!" Rung takes sudden notice of the objects in hand.
"Its so lovely. Look at the detailings, you had to of veen in such a high spirit when making this. ITs wonderful." Rung's voice livens up. Clearly he's touched, and perhaps embarrassed in a good way.
Velocity peered around the collage with a beaming, if flustered smile. Thinking of herself as somebody memorable like that, and in a good way, made her shuffle a bit even as she crinkled her optics at him. It was such an odd thought. She'd always just been the odd one out, the weird one who had to try that much harder than everybody else just to stay in the same place, so it was just... Strange. But pleasant.
"I, um. I was hoping you'd like it! I know it's probably a silly thing to do, but I think you deserve nice things too, because you're always doing nice things for everybody else, right? I didn't want you to forget that. And plus, I like being around you, you make things feel all warm and safe and good. So! Yes! I just um. Have to finish it, I guess..."
"Oh." Rung says softly, like his spark was jolted with electricity. "I don't think its silly at all, dear. Its how you express yourself and there's nothing wrong with that."
Velocity pressed the collage against her face to hide her flustered expression. "You think so?" She asked with a little laugh. "I always- I always want to find better ways of showing the people in my life that they matter to me. And you do. I know we only met each other really really recently, but... it feels like I was waiting for you, you know? Like my whole life I was holding in a big vent, and now that we have, everything makes more sense."
